Overview

Just after a bad breakup, Charlie MacKenzie falls for lovely butcher Harriet Michaels and introduces her to his parents. But, as voracious consumers of sensational tabloids, his parents soon come to suspect that Harriet is actually a notorious serial killer -- "Mrs. X" -- wanted in connection with a string of bizarre honeymoon killings. Thinking his parents foolish, Charlie proposes to Harriet. But while on his honeymoon with her, he begins to fear they were right.

Amusing romcom set in San Francisco with Mike Myers and Nancy Travis Fresh off his success with “Wayne’s World” (1992), Mike Myers stars as a poet/musician in the Bay Area of California, performing in art houses. He takes romantic interest in an adorable local butcher (Nancy Travis) whom he increasingly suspects of (you guessed it) being an axe murderer. Amanda Plummer plays her sister and Anthony LaPaglia a detective pal of the poet. “Charlie” (Mike Myers) is a San Francisco poet, of Scots ancestry, who has a sort of nervous paranoia that ensures he never really has too much luck with the lassies. Then he encounters “Harriet” (Nancy Travis). She uses a cleaver and an apron for a living, and seems to be able to look beyond his character flaws. Meantime, the newspapers are full of stories about a serial killer called “Mrs. X”.
