This is a story that's been waiting to be told for close to a century. Why it hasn't been is anyone's guess. In 1937 a mysterious stone was discovered along the banks of the Chowan River near Edenton, North Carolina. It bore a carved message from Eleanor Dare instructing any Englishman to give the stone to her father, Captain John White, discoverer of the Lost Colony of Roanoke. She pled for her father to rescue her and 6 other colonists after surviving great hardships including the massacre of many colonists by the powerful Chief Powhatan.
