6.0This is quite an interesting wartime story based around the efforts by some Belgian officers determined to retrieve the standard of their regiment after they were forced to bury it ahead of the advancing Nazis. "Jean Duclos" (Clifford Evans) has to smuggle his way into occupied territory and make it home safely with the flag. The story has a more emotionally driven twinge to it than many; putting life ad limb at risk to fetch something less tangible than a person or a secret plan seems curiously extravagant, yet as the film progresses we do get a sense of the underlying pride felt my many of t…
