Overview
Loosely based on the classic story of Sleeping Beauty, this irreverent gay fairy tale for modern audiences follows a man named Moses, whose frequent seizures are characterized by the appearance of Glintentica, a spurned Goddess planning her return to earth. Problems arise when Glintentica becomes determined to take over the soul of David, Moses' new love interest.

5.0Because they worry so much about getting a return from their relatively small audience, many LGBT movies are formulaic and safe. SoulMaid is anything but, and that alone raises it significantly in my estimation. Silly, quirky, and a little bit edgy, it's less polished and even cheaper but has the feel of a lost episode of a TV show set in the same universe as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. One of the few gay flicks that has exceeded my expectations.
