Errol Flynn leads the way with an excellent Roger Livesey in this rather lively adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's swashbuckling tale of Scotland immediately after the failed Jacobite rebellion, As was common during many civil wars; the landed gentry hedged their bets by having a foot in each camp, In this one Flynn picks the losing side and ends up having to be secreted away, join some pirates and have quite a few adventures before returning back to Durisdeer to reclaim his inheritance and settle some scores with the women in his life.
