Suburbia 1967. Eleven-year-old Susan Bradley has only one thing on her mind, and it's not schoolwork. It's Mike Nesmith of The Monkees, the popular pop group made famous in the television sitcom of the same name. Susan, with "boyfriend" Nesmith, lives in a daydream, a sixties riot of psychedelic colors and goofy, soft-focus, teenage-girl love scenes. Her well-meaning parents try to snap her back to reality, but it takes an informative copy of Teen Life to finally open Susan's eyes.

Brilliantly crafted. Twists you could never see coming
What a flick! Must watch for any Monkees enthusiasts, and even for those who aren't fans (not to spoil anything, but the film could be read through an anti-Monkee lens). I was blown away by the production value; I often forgot it was created in 1998 because the set dressing was so period accurate to the 60's! Loved all the costumes. The actor who plays Mike was fantastic, they really should've gotten him back for the Monkees' similarly titled biopic "Daydream Believers" (2001). His accent was so perfect and I even forgot that it wasn't Mike Nesmith himself! A great story, cute and fun for the…
