Biography

An Egyptian television presenter and media personality, she graduated from the American University in Cairo with a master's degree in journalism in 1991. She worked for CBC and previously for Al Jazeera and other Arabic channels. She was voted the best media personality in polls conducted by Al-Ahram and Al-Masry Al-Youm newspapers in 2010, and her programs garnered the highest advertising revenue at the time. Since 2005, she has presented several television programs on Egyptian satellite channels, including "From the Heart of Egypt," which aired three days a week. Her show disappeared during the 2011 Egyptian revolution but returned to cover the events following the resignation of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. From 2005 to 2009, she also hosted a weekly program called "Speak Up," which achieved high viewership ratings during its Ramadan broadcast. She is also the executive editor of Al-Alam Al-Youm newspaper, which focuses on the business world. She began her media career with NBC in 1987, then worked as a correspondent for The New York Times for three years. In 1991, she co-founded Egypt's first business-focused newspaper, Al-Alam Al-Youm (World Today), and has been its editor-in-chief since 2005.
