Biography
Alexander Beresford is an independent horror filmmaker from Buxton, Derbyshire, with a passion for dark storytelling, local folklore, and low-budget filmmaking. He is the founder of Occult Productions, a small independent horror production company dedicated to producing experimental and grassroots horror films. His best-known work is the documentary-style horror series Cult, which explored the story of a supposed Satanic cult said to roam the woods around Buxton in Derbyshire. The series mixes local legend, investigation, and found-footage-style storytelling, creating an eerie look at how folklore and fear can grow in small communities.
Alongside filmmaking, he is also the host of Don’t Press Play, a horror movie podcast where he discusses horror films, genres, and cult favourites from across the horror world. The podcast reflects his love of the genre and provides a space to talk about both mainstream and independent horror cinema.
Through his filmmaking, podcast, and work with Occult Productions, he continues to explore creative ways to tell unsettling stories and contribute to the independent horror community.
