Is this a parody ? Surely Dawn Fraser and June Daley Watkins could have helped. In the unlikely circumstance that the family couldn't get butter they certainly would not have used dripping as a substitute. They are cooking tripe because they couldn't get meat. Really. Where did the dripping come from ? The tea making was a bit sad.Even the modern mother could work out how to use a tea strainer when pouring the tea, not when making it. I would be very surprised if any father came home and had dinner by himself. The practice at the time was to wait until he came home ! Few would want to go back…
