Corrections

Release dates move and films leave platforms. This page explains how we keep up, and what happens when we get something wrong.

How we keep pages accurate

  • Every platform claim has a recheck date. If we haven't rechecked it in time, the claim is hidden automatically and the page says it is being rechecked. A hidden claim never means the film has left the platform.
  • Checked and reported are kept apart. A claim is marked checked only after we have seen the title in the platform's Indian app or website, or in its official partner listing (for example Airtel Xstream's listing of JioHotstar titles), which the page then names. Claims based only on news reports are labelled reported, link to the report, and stay out of our recommendation lists.
  • Release dates are confirmed or expected. Dates are marked confirmed only when the studio, distributor or platform has announced them. Everything else is expected. When a date moves, the title page records the change under "What we know so far".
  • Weekly audit. Each week we recheck a sample of recent pages against their sources, starting with titles in the current roundup and the release calendar.

When we find a mistake

  • Wrong platform claims are hidden at once while we recheck, then corrected.
  • Factual errors are fixed on the page. Significant corrections are noted at the bottom of the page with the date.
  • We look for the cause. A wrong platform claim usually means a licence changed or a report was wrong, so we record which, and adjust how often that platform is rechecked.
  • Dates are never guessed. If sources disagree, we show the date as expected and say that reports differ.
