The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana: Part 1 with a U certificate on Thursday 30 October 2026, and the certificate gives a runtime of 195 minutes (3 hours 15 minutes).
Bollywood Hungama reports that the examining committee asked for no cuts and no audio or visual changes. A U certificate means the film is cleared for viewers of all ages.
Ranbir Kapoor plays Rama, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Yash plays Ravana, Ravie Dubey plays Lakshman and Sunny Deol plays Hanuman. Namit Malhotra produces.
What it means for viewers
The film opens in cinemas on Thursday 5 November in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, and advance booking in India has been open since Dussehra. With no age restriction, families can take children of any age, but plan for a long sitting: the film alone runs 3 hours 15 minutes.
There is no streaming date. JioHotstar has said the film will come to its service as a separate pay-per-view rental after the theatrical run, so for now it is a cinema-only release.
