The story
In Rameswaram, Thavasi makes a modest living diving for the coins pilgrims throw into the sea. One day he finds a valuable gold pendant on the seabed and, being honest, takes it to the authorities. Instead, a corrupt policeman pockets a gem from it and ties Thavasi to an old jewellery theft from another state. An idealistic lawyer, Kanchana, takes up his defence, and the case grows into a public fight over who the antique jewel really belongs to.

Who it suits
For viewers who like issue-driven courtroom dramas such as *Jai Bhim* or *Kaagaz*, now with a Hindi dub. The CBFC rated it U/A 13+ and it runs about two hours, with little violence, so older children can watch with family.

Background
Enna Vilai ("What is the price?", also titled Enna Vilai: The Price of Dignity) is the directing debut of Sajeev Pazhoor, who wrote Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, and reunites him with Nimisha Sajayan. Kalamaya Cineverse produced it, Sam C. S. composed the music, and it was planned as a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual.
The film won Best Screenplay at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival and screened at the Kaia International Film Festival in Turkey in August 2026. The CBFC certified it U/A 13+, which the director publicly questioned, and it opened in cinemas on 17 September 2026 to mixed reviews. It began streaming on Netflix on 15 October 2026 in Tamil with Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada dubs.
