The story
Aditya is a film-obsessed young man from Wanaparthy in Telangana whose father sends him to the UK for a one-year master's course that is meant to get him settled in life. Far from home, he struggles with loneliness, money worries and the weight of his family's expectations. On his first day he meets Kadali, a lively young woman, and the two agree to share a flat to split the rent. As they grow closer, Aditya has to keep the relationship hidden from his traditional parents, who call him on video from back home.

Who it suits
Aimed at young adults who like campus and first-love stories, especially fans of the 90's web series and of the Baby lead pair. The CBFC rated it A for its mature relationship themes, and it runs about two and a half hours, so it is not one for children.

Background
Epic, promoted in cinemas as Epic: First Semester, is the first feature film of writer-director Aditya Haasan, who made the Telugu web series #90's: A Middle Class Biopic; the film follows on from that series' world, with Anand Deverakonda playing a grown-up Aditya. It reunites Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya, the lead pair of Baby (2023). Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya produced it under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, and Hesham Abdul Wahab composed the music.
The CBFC passed it with an A certificate and a running time of about 150 minutes, and it opened in cinemas on 11 September 2026. Reviews were mixed: The Hollywood Reporter India found it derivative beyond the songs and a few scenes, and Deccan Chronicle reported that it was a box-office flop. Netflix began streaming it on 9 October 2026 in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
