The story
In 2006, Maharaj is a feared dacoit in the Bundelkhand region who stays out of reach because corrupt politicians and police protect him. Aditya Singh, an honest IPS officer, is determined to bring him down, even as the system around him shields the outlaw. What follows is a cat-and-mouse chase between the officer and the outlaw, set against the politics and policing of rural north India.

Background
Arshad Warsi's character, the dacoit Maharaj, is inspired by Dadua, a real bandit from Bundelkhand. The project was announced on 29 September 2022 under the working title Yash. It was produced by Jio Studios, Yaelstar Films and Golden Ratio Films, with Ashwini Chaudhary and Jyoti Deshpande among its producers, and ZEE5 is its distributor.
The film had its world premiere at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival on 20 October 2024. It then screened at the Cinevesture International Film Festival in Chandigarh in March 2025 and at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival. It skipped a theatrical release and came straight to ZEE5 on 11 September 2026, nearly two years after its festival premiere.
