The story
Trinadh is a plantain farmer and trader in the village of Polluru, close to his school-going daughter Manikanta, whom he encourages to tell him everything. He drinks too much and is quick with his fists against men who harass local girls, which worries his wife and his mentor Goparaju, who keeps the 41-day Ayyappa Deeksha every year. Then girls who travel out of the village for school start dying, and their deaths are written off as suicides. At his daughter's request, Trinadh takes up the Deeksha himself.

Background
Irumudi is Ravi Teja's 77th film and was announced on his birthday, 26 January 2026. Shiva Nirvana wrote and directed it, and Mythri Movie Makers produced it, presented by T-Series Films. The title refers to the sacred bundle that devotees carry on the pilgrimage to Sabarimala.
The film opened in cinemas on 21 August 2026 in Telugu, with a Tamil dub titled Irumudi Kattu. Its worldwide gross passed ₹250 crore, and Wikipedia records ₹251.25 crore, the highest of Ravi Teja's career. It began streaming on Netflix on 18 September 2026, about four weeks after release, in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. It topped Netflix India's weekly film Top 10 in its second week.
