The story
Bear is a shy music-store clerk who has long had feelings for his friend Nikki. After a bad turn of events, he breaks a novelty wish-granting toy and wishes that Nikki would love him more than anyone else. Soon she is back in his life and moving in with him, but her affection quickly turns erratic and unsettling, and Bear's wish begins to look like a curse.

Who it suits
Meant for adult horror fans who can handle disturbing themes; the CBFC rated the theatrical version A, and this streaming version restores scenes of graphic violence and sexual content that were cut for cinemas. It runs about an hour and fifty minutes.

Background
Obsession is written, directed and edited by Curry Barker, a YouTube sketch creator, who developed it from his short horror film The Chair. Blumhouse produced it on a budget Barker put at no more than $750,000. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on 5 September 2025, opened in US cinemas on 15 May 2026 through Focus Features, and grossed about $520 million worldwide, per Wikipedia.
In India it opened in cinemas on 29 May 2026 with an A certificate after the CBFC cut 38 seconds of violence and sexual content, Bollywood Hungama reported. On 15 October JioHotstar announced "The Original Uncut Version" for 30 October at 7 pm on its Peacock Hub section, in English and Hindi.
