The story
It is 1912, and an assassination attempt on the Viceroy shakes the British Raj. Rash Behari Bose, who set the plan in motion, goes on the run as the Empire brings in the ruthless officer Dyer to hunt down those responsible. Sachindranath Sanyal, struggling with his family's legacy of working in the shadows, is torn between his engagement to Pratibha Lahiri and his wish to fight on the front line. In Calcutta, the legendary Bagha Jatin returns from hiding with a daring plan, while police officer Charles Tegart closes in on him.

Who it suits
Aimed at viewers interested in the armed side of India's freedom struggle and in period action dramas. Prime Video rates it U/A 16+ for violence, smoking and strong language, so it suits older teens and adults; the eight episodes run close to an hour each.

Background
The Revolutionaries is a Prime Video original series based on Sanjeev Sanyal's non-fiction book Revolutionaries: The Other Story of How India Won Its Freedom. Nikkhil Advani directed it, and he, Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani produced it under Emmay Entertainment. It was filmed in places including Mumbai, Amritsar, Varanasi and Dehradun. Bhuvan Bam plays Rash Behari Bose, Rohit Saraf plays Sachindranath Sanyal, Pratibha Ranta plays Pratibha Lahiri and Gurfateh Pirzada plays Bagha Jatin.
Prime Video revealed the first look in July 2025. All eight episodes of season 1 premiered on 11 September 2026, and Prime Video said it would be available in more than 240 countries and territories. Its India page lists audio in Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
