If you have not seen it yet, start with Drishyam (2015), the Ajay Devgn and Tabu thriller on Prime Video that sets up the Salgaonkar family's story. This list is for what comes next: films about families in danger, crimes someone tries to hide, and investigators who will not let a case go. Drishyam 2 comes first because it continues the same story; Drishyam: The Conclusion is still in cinemas, so it is not listed.
Every pick has a Hindi audio track and streams on Netflix or Prime Video in India, checked on the platform's Indian app or site, with the check date on each title page. Picks are ranked by how closely they match Drishyam's mix of family stakes and cat-and-mouse tension, then grouped into cover-ups, investigations and families under threat.
Most picks are rated U/A, but several deal with murder and violence, so read the content notes before a family viewing. More in all thrillers and crime films.

Drishyam 2
Prime Video (free; choose the title marked (Hindi))CBFC U/A142 min
If you have seen Drishyam, start here: the sequel picks up seven years later, as Akshaye Khanna's new police chief quietly reopens the Salgaonkar case. Ajay Devgn and Tabu return, and the cat-and-mouse is just as patient. It is rated U/A and runs 142 minutes, with interrogations and violence against family members. It is free on Prime Video; choose the title marked (Hindi).
Crimes and cover-ups
- 2
Jaane Jaan
Netflix139 min
The closest match to Drishyam's setup: a quiet, clever maths teacher offers to help his neighbour, a single mother, after a violent night, while a sharp inspector starts asking questions. Sujoy Ghosh adapts Keigo Higashino's The Devotion of Suspect X and moves it to Kalimpong. Jaideep Ahlawat, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Vijay Varma star. It runs 139 minutes and the material is dark, so it suits adults.

Badla
NetflixCBFC U/A118 min
Drishyam fans who enjoy watching a story rebuilt piece by piece will like this one-evening interrogation. Amitabh Bachchan plays a veteran defence lawyer pressing Taapsee Pannu's businesswoman, accused of killing her lover, to account for every detail of the months before. It is rated U/A and runs 118 minutes, with murder and a cover-up at its centre. It remakes the Spanish film The Invisible Guest.

Talaash: The Answer Lies Within
NetflixCBFC U/A139 min
Like Drishyam, this is as much about a grieving family as a case. Aamir Khan's inspector looks into a film star's late-night crash into the sea while he and his wife, played by Rani Mukerji, struggle after losing their son. It is rated U/A and runs 139 minutes, moody and slow, with blackmail, sex work and the death of a child. Kareena Kapoor co-stars.

Kahaani
Prime Video122 min
This suits Drishyam viewers who like a lead who seems outmatched and keeps pushing anyway. Vidya Balan's pregnant engineer searches Kolkata for her vanished husband during Durga Puja, and her questions draw the Intelligence Bureau's attention. It runs about two hours, with contract killings and a terror attack, so it is for teens and adults. Sujoy Ghosh won the Filmfare Award for Best Director.
Investigations

Raat Akeli Hai
Netflix149 min
For the police side of a Drishyam-style story, Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays a small-town Uttar Pradesh inspector looking into a landowner shot on his wedding night, with a house full of suspects and political pressure to close the file. It skipped cinemas for Netflix and carries no CBFC certificate. It runs 149 minutes and includes sexual abuse, violence and strong language, so it is for adults.

Talvar
NetflixCBFC U/A133 min
If what gripped you in Drishyam was how an investigation can go wrong, watch this. Loosely based on the 2008 Noida double murder case, it follows Irrfan Khan's central investigator as separate teams read the same evidence in very different ways. It is rated U/A, runs 133 minutes and shows bloody crime-scene images, so it is for adults and older teens.

A Wednesday!
Prime Video99 min
A shorter pick at about 99 minutes, Neeraj Pandey's debut swaps a family secret for one afternoon of phone negotiation. Naseeruddin Shah's anonymous caller and Anupam Kher's police commissioner give Drishyam fans the same pleasure of two sharp minds testing each other. It deals with terrorism and bomb threats, with some violence, so it suits teens and adults. It won a National Film Award for Pandey.
Families under threat
- 9
Shaitaan
NetflixCBFC U/A132 min
Ajay Devgn again plays a father protecting his household, but here the danger walks into a remote farmhouse as a charming stranger, played by R. Madhavan, who takes control of the daughter. It is supernatural horror rather than a police story. Rated U/A, it runs 132 minutes, but scenes of a child being harmed make it unsuitable for younger viewers.

Raazi
NetflixCBFC U/A140 min
Drishyam is about keeping a secret under suspicion, and so is Meghna Gulzar's 1971 spy drama. Alia Bhatt plays a young woman who marries into a Pakistani army family and must gather intelligence without being found out by people who treat her kindly. The tension is quiet rather than loud. It is rated U/A, runs 140 minutes and has some violent moments.

Jailer
Prime Video (free; select Hindi audio)CBFC U/A169 min
A louder choice for Drishyam fans: Rajinikanth's retired jailer steps in after his police officer son goes missing and a smuggling gang begins threatening the family. It is an action comedy, not a slow thriller, and despite the U/A rating it has graphic, gory violence across 169 minutes. It is free on Prime Video; select Hindi from the audio tracks.
