The story
Nearly two decades after losing the woman he loved, former gangster Shivam Pandit lives alone in Mumbai until he finds an abandoned baby girl. When the child vanishes into a trafficking network, he works with Interpol and goes undercover in Bangkok, hired to guard the younger siblings of crime heir Zorawar Singh. There he grows close to Zara, a gentle cellist who wants no part of her family's business. Emraan Hashmi returns as Shivam, with Disha Patani as Zara, Puran Gabbi as Zorawar and Shabana Azmi.

Background
Awarapan 2 is a direct sequel to Mohit Suri's Awarapan (29 June 2007), an uncredited remake of the South Korean film A Bittersweet Life. The original flopped in cinemas but later gained a cult following, so watching it first gives useful context: Emraan Hashmi returns as Shivam Pandit, and Shaad Randhawa and Shriya Saran make cameo appearances. Vishesh Bhatt wrote and produced the sequel under Vishesh Films, and Nitin Kakkar directed after Suri, busy with another film, was not approached.
Filming ran from September 2025 to June 2026 in Bangkok, Rajasthan, Malaysia and Mumbai, and Hashmi needed surgery after an abdominal injury during an action scene. Moved from April, the film opened on 14 August 2026, over the Independence Day weekend. It crossed ₹100 crore net in India within six days and reached a worldwide gross of ₹207.3 crore, according to Wikipedia. Prime Video began streaming it on 9 October 2026.
