The story
Sunny is a gifted artist in Mumbai who earns little copying famous paintings. His grandfather Madhav's printing press, which publishes the revolutionary magazine Kranti Patrika, is close to shutting down. To save it, Sunny and his best friend Firoz use the press and his talent to print fake currency, and their notes turn out to be almost perfect. Meanwhile Michael, an unorthodox Special Task Force officer, leads a new unit against counterfeiting with RBI officer Megha Vyas, and is determined to bring down Mansoor Dalal, the criminal behind the country's biggest fake-currency network.

Who it suits
A good fit for viewers who enjoy cat-and-mouse crime stories with dark humour and a big ensemble, and for fans of Raj & DK's *The Family Man*. Prime Video rates it A, and it has violence and strong language.

Background
Farzi was created, produced and directed by Raj & DK, who wrote it with Sita Menon and Suman Kumar. It was first conceived as a film in 2014 and expanded into a series by 2019. Filming began in Mumbai in July 2021 and also took place in Alibag, Goa, Nepal and Jordan. It shares continuity with Raj & DK's spy series The Family Man. It was the streaming debut for both Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi.
All eight episodes were released on Prime Video on 10 February 2023. According to Ormax Media, as reported by The Indian Express, it became the most-watched Indian streaming series to date, with a projected 37 million viewers. It received 10 nominations at the 2023 Filmfare OTT Awards. Kapoor confirmed a second season in February 2023, and Prime Video announced the renewal in 2026.
