The story
In a small north Indian town, the Mishra family gets by on one modest income and plenty of opinions. Santosh Mishra keeps a careful eye on every rupee, his wife Shanti runs the house and the arguments, and their sons Annu and Aman squabble their way through growing up. Neighbour Bittu ki Mummy is never far from the gossip. Each self-contained episode picks up an everyday problem, such as a new appliance, an exam or a family visit, and the family's gullak, or piggy bank, narrates the small dramas of their lives.
Spoiler-free: only the set-up.
Who it suits
Gentle enough for family viewing, with a SonyLIV U/A 13+ rating and episodes of roughly 20 to 45 minutes built around everyday middle-class life rather than crime or violence. Families and viewers who like low-stakes, nostalgic humour can dip into any season.
