The story
Born to Anjani and Kesari with the blessings of Vayu, the wind god, baby Hanuman has extraordinary strength and divine powers, and he uses them to tease the sages in the forest. Once, hungry, he leaps into the sky to grab the sun, thinking it is a fruit. The gods grant him boons that protect him from weapons, fire and water. As he grows up, Hanuman meets Rama and Lakshmana, who are searching for Sita, and devotes his powers to their cause. Mukesh Khanna narrates.

Who it suits
An animated mythology film of about an hour and a half that tells the familiar stories of Hanuman's childhood and the Ramayana. Families with children can watch it together, though it includes battles with demons and the burning of Lanka.

Background
Hanuman, also marketed as Hanuman: The Mighty Warrior, was animated by Silvertoons and produced with Percept Picture Company. Sahara One Motion Pictures distributed it. Mukesh Khanna narrates and voices Hanuman in Hindi, and Chiranjeevi voiced the role in the Telugu version. Wikipedia credits it with popularising animation and starting the growth of India's animation industry. Percept signed a merchandising deal with the Future Group, valued at ₹3.7 crore, to sell tie-in products at Big Bazaar.
The film was released on 21 October 2005. Wikipedia reports a gross of ₹11.68 crore against a budget of ₹3.25 crore. Besides the 89-minute theatrical version there is a 138-minute alternate cut. A follow-up, Return of Hanuman, directed by Anurag Kashyap, was released on 28 December 2007. Silvertoons has since uploaded the Hindi and Telugu versions to its YouTube channel.
