The story
Twenty-two years after the original Jurassic Park disaster, John Hammond's dream is finally running on Isla Nublar as Jurassic World, a busy theme park full of cloned dinosaurs owned by billionaire Simon Masrani. To keep visitors coming, the park's scientists create a new hybrid dinosaur, the Indominus rex. Operations manager Claire Dearing calls in Owen Grady, an ex-Navy man who trains velociraptors, to check its enclosure, just as Claire's two young nephews arrive for a visit.

Background
Jurassic World is the fourth film in the Jurassic Park franchise, after Jurassic Park III (2001), and the first of the Jurassic World series. It is set 22 years after the first film, on the same island, with BD Wong returning as Dr Henry Wu. Universal first planned a fourth film for 2005, but the script went through years of rewrites before Colin Trevorrow was hired in 2013. Irrfan Khan plays Simon Masrani, the park's owner.
The film premiered in Paris on 29 May 2015 and opened in the United States on 12 June 2015. It set records for the biggest opening weekend in North America and worldwide at the time, and grossed $1.671 billion, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 2015 and the highest-grossing film in the franchise. Three sequels followed: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), Jurassic World Dominion (2022) and Jurassic World Rebirth (2025).
