The story
In the fishing village of Mugavaipattinam in Ramanathapuram, the yearly sailboat race at the temple festival is ruled by the Tsunami Riders, a team owned by the ruthless Sattapuli, who keeps local sailors out. Young Maari, turned away by Sattapuli's son, revives an old village team to take them on, and the rivalry turns violent. Sent to Chennai for his safety, Maari meets Kaali, a legendary sailor now working as a lifeguard, who once loved Maari's mother. Kaali agrees to come home and lead the crew.
