The story
During a stage performance of *Romeo and Juliet*, Aniket makes a grand public proposal to his long-time friend Pooja Dogra, saying he has built his whole future around her. Pooja turns him down in private and tells him to leave her alone. When Aniket dies by suicide soon after, his grieving mother demands justice, and the police arrest Pooja for abetment. As a hostile media trial turns the public against her, the lawyer Sana takes on her case in court.
Spoiler-free: only the set-up.
Who it suits
Good for adults who like courtroom dramas that take on social questions, here consent, rejection and trial by media. Suicide and harassment are central to the story, so it is not for children; it runs just under two hours.

Background
Pooja Meri Jaan was directed by Navjot Gulati, co-directed by Vipasha Arvind and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik under Maddock Films. Gulati co-wrote it with Kanishka Singh Deo, and has said it looks at how men react to rejection.
The film was announced in July 2022, after shooting had finished. It was meant to go straight to JioCinema, but those plans stalled after the platform merged with Disney+ Hotstar, and in February 2026 Gulati publicly criticised the long delay. ZEE5 added it to its Hindi slate in July 2026 and on 19 September announced a 2 October premiere. It was released directly on ZEE5 on 2 October 2026, without a theatrical run, more than four years after it was announced. Its only audio track is Hindi.
