The story
In the 1660s, Shivaji Maharaj is forced to hand 23 forts, including the strategic Kondhana, to the Mughal Empire. Some years later, Aurangzeb sends his ruthless general Udaybhan Singh Rathod to hold Kondhana, along with a giant cannon aimed at the Maratha heartland. Tanaji Malusare, one of Shivaji's most trusted commanders, is busy preparing for his son's wedding when he learns of a plan to retake the fort, and he insists on leading the mission himself.
Spoiler-free: only the set-up.
Who it suits
A big-screen period action film for viewers who enjoy sword fights, battle spectacle and Maratha history. It is rated U/A and runs about two and a quarter hours, with plenty of combat and some brutal violence, and critics note it takes liberties with history.
