The story
Aisha Chaudhary tells the story of her parents, Aditi and Niren, whom she calls Moose and Panda. The Delhi couple fell in love young and married, but their first child died as a baby of a rare immune disorder. When Aisha is born with the same condition, they move to London for costly treatment, spending years apart and raising money any way they can. Told with humour across 25 years, it follows the strain on their marriage and the family they hold together.

Who it suits
A tender family drama for teens and adults who want a true story about parenthood, marriage and serious illness, told with plenty of humour. It is rated U/A and runs about two and a half hours; it deals directly with death and grief, so viewers who have lost someone may find it hard going.

Background
The Sky Is Pink is based on the life of Aisha Chaudhary, who was born with severe combined immunodeficiency and later developed pulmonary fibrosis, and on her parents Aditi and Niren. Aditi Chaudhary approached Shonali Bose to make the film, and Bose chose to tell it as the parents' love story through Aisha's eyes. Juhi Chaturvedi wrote the Hindi dialogue. RSVP Movies, Roy Kapur Films and Priyanka Chopra Jonas's Purple Pebble Pictures produced it. It was Zaira Wasim's last film before she quit acting.
The film premiered as a Gala Presentation at the 44th Toronto International Film Festival on 13 September 2019 and opened in cinemas on 11 October 2019. Netflix bought its worldwide streaming rights and began streaming it on 11 December 2019. Wikipedia reports a gross of ₹34.41 crore against a ₹24 crore budget. At the 65th Filmfare Awards it received three nominations, including Best Actress for Chopra Jonas.
