This list is for viewers who want Hindi thrillers to stream at home in India: police mysteries, cat-and-mouse crime stories, spy films and a couple of darker supernatural and vigilante picks. Every pick has a Hindi audio track, and we checked each one on the platform's Indian app or site. The check date is on each title page. Aparichit is the only dubbed film here; the rest were made in Hindi.
We ranked the picks by how well they suit someone looking for suspense: how much the plot depends on mystery and tension rather than action, and how easy each film is to start. Sequels come right after the films they follow, so Drishyam 2 sits after Drishyam.
On certificates: most picks are U/A, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is A, and Raat Akeli Hai has no CBFC certificate, so check the notes on violence before watching with family.

Mystery and crime thrillers
- 1
Drishyam
Prime VideoCBFC U/A163 min
Drishyam is the Hindi thriller most people should try first. Ajay Devgn's cable operator, a film buff with little schooling, matches wits with a police chief while trying to keep his family safe. There is very little action; the tension comes from questioning, alibis and small details. It is U/A and runs 163 minutes, and it starts a three-film series.

Drishyam 2
Prime Video (free; choose the title marked Hindi)CBFC U/A142 min
Seven years on, Akshaye Khanna's new police chief reopens the Salgaonkar case, and the game starts again. The sequel only works if you have seen the 2015 film, so watch them back to back. It is rated U/A, runs 142 minutes, and Prime Video lists the Hindi version free. Pick the Hindi listing, since the Malayalam Drishyam 2 is a different film.
- 3
Kahaani
Prime Video122 min
Vidya Balan's pregnant engineer hunts for her missing husband through Kolkata during Durga Puja, and the city becomes part of the puzzle. Kahaani is a good pick for viewers who want a lead who drives the story and a mystery that rewards close attention. It runs 122 minutes and includes contract killings and gun violence, so it suits teens and adults.
- 4
A Wednesday!
Prime Video99 min
At 99 minutes this is the shortest film here, and it plays out almost in real time. An unnamed caller and Mumbai's police commissioner negotiate over bombs said to be hidden across the city, with Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher leading the cast. It is a strong pick for a weeknight. It deals with terrorism and has some violence, so it is better for teens and adults.
- 5
Badla
NetflixCBFC U/A118 min
Badla is almost all talk, and that is the point. A defence lawyer spends one evening grilling a businesswoman accused of murder, and each version of her story changes what you think happened. Fans of courtroom-style puzzles will enjoy it. It is U/A and just under two hours at 118 minutes, and it is a remake of the Spanish film The Invisible Guest.
- 6
Talaash
NetflixCBFC U/A139 min
Talaash is the moodiest film here: a night-time Mumbai noir in which a police inspector looks into a film star's car crash while grieving his own son. Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji star. Choose it if you like a detective story with room for sadness. It is U/A, runs 139 minutes, and deals with a child's death, sex work and blackmail.
- 7
Jaane Jaan
Netflix139 min
Readers of Keigo Higashino's The Devotion of Suspect X will recognise the setup, now moved to misty Kalimpong. A single mother, the quiet maths teacher next door and a sharp police inspector circle one crime, with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma in the lead roles. It runs 139 minutes and went straight to Netflix. Expect a slow burn and dark themes around a killing.
- 8
Raat Akeli Hai
Netflix149 min
For a classic whodunit with a long list of suspects, try this small-town Uttar Pradesh murder case. Nawazuddin Siddiqui's inspector questions a resentful family after a landowner is shot on his wedding night. It runs 149 minutes and has no CBFC certificate, as it went straight to Netflix. It includes sexual abuse, violence and strong language, so it is for adults.
- 9
Talvar
NetflixCBFC U/A133 min
Talvar is loosely based on the 2008 Noida double murder case and shows how different investigation teams read the same evidence in different ways. It suits viewers who like procedural detail and real cases more than twists. It is rated U/A and runs 133 minutes, but the murder of a teenager and the crime-scene images make it better for adults and older teens.
Spy and real-life thrillers
- 10
Raazi
NetflixCBFC U/A140 min
Raazi is a quiet spy thriller with almost no gunfights. Alia Bhatt plays a young Indian woman who marries into a Pakistani army family before the 1971 war and gathers secrets inside their home. The suspense comes from her fear of being caught. It is U/A, runs 140 minutes and has some violent moments, so teens and adults can watch it together.
- 11
Neerja
Prime Video121 min
Based on the 1986 hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi, Neerja follows Sonam Kapoor as the young head purser on board. Most of the film stays inside the plane, close to real time, which keeps the tension high. It runs 121 minutes and has gunfire and killings, so it is better for teens and adults than for young children.
- 12
Dhurandhar: The Revenge
JioHotstar (the India stream is the extended cut)CBFC A229 min
This is an adults-only spy story, with Ranveer Singh's undercover agent living inside Karachi's gang wars and politics. It mixes action with long stretches of tension about his cover. It is rated A for gore, torture and drug use and runs 229 minutes. This is the second half of the story, so watch Dhurandhar (2025) first.
Supernatural and vigilante thrillers
- 13
Shaitaan
NetflixCBFC U/A132 min
Shaitaan is a home-invasion thriller with black magic in it. A charming stranger takes control of a family's daughter at their remote farmhouse, and her parents try to break his hold. Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan and Jyothika star. It is rated U/A and runs 132 minutes. The scenes of a child being controlled and hurt are disturbing, so keep it away from younger viewers.
- 14
Aparichit (Anniyan)
YouTube (free, official Hindi dub on the Pen Movies channel)CBFC U181 min
This Hindi dub of Shankar's Tamil thriller Anniyan is free on YouTube. Vikram plays a timid lawyer, and a vigilante starts punishing corrupt people in ways drawn from the Garuda Purana. It suits viewers who like thrillers with a social message and a psychological twist. It runs 181 minutes, and despite its U certificate the killings are violent.
