Background
Alpha is the seventh film in Yash Raj Films' YRF Spy Universe and the first in the series led by a woman. It is set after the events of War 2 (2025), with Hrithik Roshan returning as Kabir Dhaliwal in an extended cameo and Anil Kapoor reprising his War 2 role, so War 2 is the most useful film to watch first. The full franchise in release order runs Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, War 2 and Alpha.
Filming began in July 2024 in Mumbai and Kashmir and wrapped in November 2025. First slated for Christmas 2025, the release moved twice before the film reached cinemas on 3 July 2026 with a U/A 16+ certificate. It grossed ₹98.62 crore worldwide against a reported budget of ₹100-150 crore, and began streaming on Netflix on 28 August 2026, timed to Raksha Bandhan.
