The story
Bhaskar, a road contractor, arrives in Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh, with his cousin Jana to push through a highway project that would cut through the forest, a plan many locals oppose. One night a wolf bites him, and the local vet, Anika, treats the wound. By the next morning he has healed unnaturally fast and finds his senses of smell and hearing sharply heightened. Then people connected with the project start dying in what look like animal attacks, and Bhaskar begins to wonder what happens to him after dark.

Background
Bhediya draws on Arunachal Pradesh folklore about the yapum, a shape-shifting werewolf that protects the forest. Niren Bhatt wrote the story and screenplay, and Dinesh Vijan produced it for Maddock Films and Jio Studios. It is the second instalment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, after Stree (2018), followed by Munjya and Stree 2 (both 2024). It was Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon's second film together after Dilwale (2015).
The film opened on 25 November 2022, with Telugu (Thodelu) and Tamil (Onai) dubbed versions. It grossed ₹89.97 crore worldwide against a budget of about ₹60 crore. It received 13 nominations at the 68th Filmfare Awards. It began streaming on JioCinema on 26 May 2023, in Hindi and six dubbed languages. A sequel is in development.
