The story
Set around the India–Pakistan war of 1971, the film follows Lt Col Fateh Singh Kaler and three officers he once trained at the National War Academy: Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya of the Army, Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon of the Air Force and Lt Cdr Mahendra Singh Rawat of the Navy. As war approaches on the western front, each is posted to a different sector, and their bond from training is tested on land, in the air and at sea.

Background
Border 2 is a sequel to J. P. Dutta's 1997 war film Border. It was announced on 13 June 2024, the first film's 27th anniversary, and four of its songs remix tracks from the original, including "Sandese Aate Hai". The story draws on 1971 war operations such as the Battle of Basantar and the sinking of INS Khukri, and some characters are based on real officers, including Captain Mahendra Nath Mulla.
Produced by T-Series Films and J. P. Films, the film opened in cinemas on 23 January 2026, over the Republic Day weekend. Netflix began streaming it on 20 March 2026. According to Wikipedia, it grossed ₹464.5 crore worldwide on a ₹275 crore budget, which made it the highest-grossing Indian war film to date.
