The story
Based on Charles Dickens's 1843 novella, the film is set in early Victorian London. It follows the miserly businessman Ebenezer Scrooge as spirits take him through visions of his past, present and future. Paramount's tagline is "The name you know, the story you don't", and its trailers present a darker, supernatural treatment of the familiar story.
Spoiler-free: only the set-up.
Who it suits
A Gothic retelling of A Christmas Carol for Johnny Depp fans and viewers who like dark fantasy with supernatural horror imagery. The CBFC certificate is not yet published, and the trailers suggest it is not a light family Christmas film.

Background
Ebenezer was announced by Paramount in October 2025 as Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, the title Indian listings still use. Ti West directs from a screenplay by Nathaniel Halpern, and Emma Watts produces. Paramount's campaign presents it as Johnny Depp's return to major studio films. Ian McKellen plays Jacob Marley, Rupert Grint plays Bob Cratchit, and Andrea Riseborough plays the Ghost of Christmas Past. Filming began in London in January 2026, and Tyler Bates composed the music.
Paramount releases it in the US and UK on 13 November 2026. Paramount Pictures India says only "this November", and Bollywood Hungama's release calendar lists 20 November for India, so the India date is expected rather than confirmed. No Hindi-dubbed release has been announced or reported, so Hindi audio is unknown.
