The story
Bani and her husband Gokul lose their young daughter in the crowd at a busy railway station in the town of Joypurra. Bani chases the kidnapper, but a violent attack leaves her unable to see. At the police station the couple learn that a trafficking gang called the Blackhole is taking girls from the area and plans to send them abroad within a month. Half-blind and grieving, Bani refuses to wait for the police and goes into Joypurra's hidden underworld, among street performers and old legends, to find her child.

Who it suits
For adults who like revenge thrillers led by a woman. Netflix rates it U/A 16+; it is about child trafficking and has brutal fight scenes, so it is not one for children, and at under two hours it is a single-sitting watch.

Background
Gandhari is an original Netflix film written and produced by Kanika Dhillon and directed by Devashish Makhija. Netflix announced it on 10 September 2024, and it reunites Dhillon and Taapsee Pannu with the platform after Haseen Dillruba (2021) and Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba (2024). Netflix called the role one of Pannu's most physically demanding; she trained for the action scenes before filming.
The film premiered directly on Netflix on 3 September 2026 and did not have a theatrical release. It streams in Hindi with English, Tamil and Telugu dubs. It went straight to No. 1 on Netflix India's weekly film Top 10 in its first week and stayed in the list for four weeks.
