The story
Gopal, Madhav and Lucky were suspended from their college years ago, but they still live in the hostel room of Laxman, a bright student they keep dragging into their schemes. When a string of scams gets them thrown out and a criminal garage owner named Vasooli comes after them for money they owe, the four take refuge in the bungalow of Somnath and Mangala, a blind couple waiting for their grandson Sameer to return from America. Gopal pretends to be Sameer, while the others hide in the house and help keep up the act.
Spoiler-free: only the set-up.
Who it suits
A loud, slapstick buddy comedy for friends watching together, built on running gags, disguises and chases rather than story. Rediff's critic noted the humour leans towards a college crowd more than family viewing, and it runs close to two and a half hours.

Background
Golmaal: Fun Unlimited was written by Neeraj Vora and is said to be loosely based on Harsh Shivsharan's Marathi play Ghar Ghar, which also inspired Vora's Gujarati play Aflatoon. It was produced by Dhilin Mehta's Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision with K Sera Sera, and Vishal–Shekhar composed the songs.
The film opened in cinemas on 14 July 2006. Wikipedia reports a worldwide gross of ₹41.25 crore against a budget of ₹15 crore, and it was declared a hit. Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama rated it 3.5 out of 5, and Rediff gave it 3 out of 5.
It is the first film in Rohit Shetty's Golmaal series, so start here. It was followed by Golmaal Returns (29 October 2008), Golmaal 3 (2010) and Golmaal Again (2017). The sequels bring back Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor in new stories, so they can be watched in any order.
