Background
Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! is a loose adaptation of Rajshri Productions' own Nadiya Ke Paar (1982), which was based on Keshav Prasad Mishra's novel Kohbar Ki Shart. Sooraj Barjatya spent one year and nine months on the script, and Raamlaxman composed 14 songs, an unusually large number for the time.

Wikipedia lists worldwide gross estimates from ₹111.63 crore to ₹128 crore; it was the first film to gross over ₹100 crore in India and became the highest-grossing Indian film at the time.
