The story
Five years after Thanos used the Infinity Stones to wipe out half of all living things, the surviving heroes are scattered and grieving. Tony Stark has stepped away to raise a family, Thor has withdrawn, and Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff try to hold what is left of the Avengers together. When Scott Lang returns from the Quantum Realm with an unlikely idea, the team sees a chance to reverse the loss, but only by risking everything they still have.

Who it suits
Marvel fans who have followed the earlier films will get the most from this three-hour finale, since it builds directly on Infinity War and many past stories. Rated U/A, it has heavy fantasy battle violence and loss, so it works for teens and adults more than young children.

Background
Avengers: Endgame is the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the direct sequel to Avengers: Infinity War (2018), so watch that first. It was shot back-to-back with Infinity War in 2017 and 2018, and was first announced as Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2.
The film opened in India on 26 April 2019, the same day as in the United States, in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Wikipedia reports it sold one million tickets in India in a single day, and within a week it became the highest-grossing foreign film ever released in India. Its initial run earned about $2.8 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of all time between 2019 and 2021. An extended version, Avengers: Endgame – Encore, returned to cinemas in September 2026, opening in India on 25 September, and took the film's total to $2.938 billion. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
