The story
Thanos, a powerful warlord, is searching the universe for the six Infinity Stones, which together would let him wipe out half of all life with a snap of his fingers. With the Avengers split apart after old quarrels, Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Thor, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Black Panther and the Guardians of the Galaxy must each face Thanos and his followers on different fronts, from New York to Wakanda to distant planets, before he collects every stone.

Who it suits
Made for viewers who know the earlier Marvel films, since it brings together characters from many of them and leads straight into Endgame. It is rated U/A and runs about two and a half hours, with large-scale battle violence and a dark tone that may upset younger children.

Background
Avengers: Infinity War is the 19th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the sequel to The Avengers (2012) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). Its story draws on the comic books The Infinity Gauntlet (1991) and Infinity (2013), and it was filmed back-to-back with its direct sequel, Avengers: Endgame (2019).
In India, it had what Wikipedia describes as the biggest release ever for a Hollywood film at the time, opening on nearly 2,000 screens in four languages, including Hindi. Its opening weekend of $18.6 million was a record for a Western release in India, and it became the first Hollywood film to earn more than ₹200 crore net in the country. Worldwide it grossed $2.052 billion, becoming the first superhero film to pass $2 billion and the highest-grossing film of 2018. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
