Background
Spider-Man: No Way Home is the third film in Tom Holland's Spider-Man trilogy, after Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and the 27th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios produced it together. The film crosses over with the earlier Spider-Man films directed by Sam Raimi and Marc Webb, and several actors return from them.
It premiered in Los Angeles on 13 December 2021 and opened in the United States on 17 December. Wikipedia reports an opening day in India of ₹32 crore to ₹34.5 crore, ahead of both Avengers: Endgame and the Hindi film Sooryavanshi. It grossed $1.921 billion worldwide, the highest-grossing film of 2021 and, at the time, the highest-grossing film released by Sony Pictures. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. An extended cut followed in September 2022, and the next film with Holland, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, was released in July 2026.
