The story
A dying RAW agent sends an emergency warning that a deadly secret mission from 1981 has come back to life, putting the whole country at risk. Before he dies, he hands a strange knife to Vijay Prakash, mistaking him for his father, the legendary spy Sardar. Convinced his father may still be alive, Vijay and his team dig into old intelligence files, while a ruthless mercenary called Black Dagger hunts for the same knife and the dangerous secret it unlocks.

Best for fans of *Sardar* and of long, twist-heavy spy action films. Rated U/A and close to three hours long, it has a lot of gunfights and violence, so it is better for teens and adults.

Background
Sardar 2 follows Sardar (2022) and is set in the same world, both before and after the first film's events. Director P. S. Mithran announced it at the first film's success meet in October 2022. Prince Pictures and IVY Entertainment produced it, filming ran from July 2024 to June 2025, and the effects-heavy post-production delayed its release. Sam C. S. composed the music, his 100th film.
It opened in cinemas on 10 September 2026, the same day as Mandaadi. The CBFC passed it U/A, and it runs nearly three hours. Wikipedia records a worldwide gross of under ₹30 crore and calls it a box-office failure. It began streaming on Prime Video on 1 October 2026 in Tamil, with Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada dubs, and Prime Video's page showed it at No. 7 on its trending list in India when checked.
