The story
No official synopsis has been released. The title-reveal and date-announcement teasers present Shah Rukh Khan as a fierce, menacing figure, with the line "I am not fear, I am destruction" and the tagline "It's time to roar and end the year with fear." The makers have described the film only as an action thriller.

Background
King is produced by Gauri Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment with Siddharth Anand's Marflix Pictures. Sujoy Ghosh, originally attached as director, wrote the story and co-wrote the screenplay; Anand took over direction in late 2024, reuniting with Khan after Pathaan. Filming began at Mehboob Studios, Mumbai, in May 2025 and later moved to Poland and Cape Town. Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji and Jaideep Ahlawat are also in the cast, and Suhana Khan makes her big-screen debut. Songs are by Sachin–Jigar and the score by Anirudh Ravichander.
The title was revealed on Khan's 60th birthday, 2 November 2025, and a teaser on 24 January 2026 fixed a theatrical release for 24 December 2026. Pen Marudhar distributes in India and Yash Raj Films overseas. No streaming partner has been announced.
